Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray to win his first French Open, completing his career Grand Slam.
The Serb won 3-6 6-1 6-2 6-4 to win his 12th major title.
He is now the first man since Rod Laver's record in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slams at once.
He is also only the 8th man in history to win all four single's trophies.

Federer absent and Nadal withdraws early

French Open 2016 had two of the tennis superstars missing in action, early on.
Roger Federer announced pulling out of the tournament due to injury, ending his record streak of playing in 65 straight Grand Slam Singles.
Incidentally, the king of clay and nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament before the thrid round match, owing to his wrist problem.

Leander Paes completes career slam

Leander Paes completed a 'Career Slam' in mixed doubles with Martina Hingis in a hard-fought win over compatriot Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig.
The unseeded Indo-Swiss pair eked out a 4-6 6-4 10-8 win over the second seeds in the summit clash.
It was the 18th Grand Slam title for Paes and a 10th slam in the mixed doubles category.

Serena reaches yet another French open Final

Reigning queen Serena Williams, suffering from an adductor strain, continued to get through her matches to reach her 4th French Open title, having won three of them (2002, 2013, 2015).
Serena, closer to her 22nd Grand Slam, will play Spain's Garbine Muguruza in the final.
While Serena survived Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens in the semis, Muguruza underlined her form beating Samatha Stosur in the semis.

Djoko-Murray set up a blockbuster French Open final

Andy Murray beat the defending champion Stan Wawrinka 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2, in the semis to set up a French Open Final against the World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic beat Dominic Thiem 6-2 6-1 6-4 in the semis.
Both players will look to win their first French Open title and Djokovic is eyeing for a career slam with a win at Roland Garros.

On the way to reach his fourth French Open Final (2012, 2014, 2015, and 2016), Djokovic beat Lu Yen-Hsun, Steve Darcis, Bedene, Bautista Agut, Tomas Berdych and Dominic Thiem. Murray overcame Stepanek, Mathias Bourgue, Ivo Karlovic, John Isner, Gasquet and Stan Wawrinka, enroute to the final.

Muguruza beats Williams at French Open finals

Spain's Garbine Muguruza beat Serena Williams in straight sets to win her first Grand Slam title at the French Open.
Muguruza won 7-5 6-4, taking out world number one Williams in a huge upset, becoming Spain's first female champion at Roland Garros since Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario in 1998.
William's hoped to beat Muguruza to win her 22nd Grand Slam single's title, equaling Steffi Graf's record.
