  • After hitting his highest ODI score, Yuvraj Singh said that he thought of quitting after he was dropped from the team.

    The Punjab southpaw said, "When I came back from cancer it was hard work. I was not performing and after being dropped I thought (about) whether I wanted to continue or not."

    He scored 150 against England last night at Cuttack.

  • Yuvraj Singh was born on 12 December 1981 in Chandigarh.

    At a young age, Yuvraj was interested in tennis and roller skates and even won the National Under-14 Roller Skating Championships.

    Yuvraj's father Yograj Singh was a former cricketer and hence wanted his son to be a cricketer.

    Yograj himself trained Yuvraj in their backyard by making a dummy pitch.

  • Yuvraj Singh was part of the team that won the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He was named the Player of the tournament for his performance.

    Impressed by his innings, he was selected in the national team for the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy.

    He won his first Man of the Match award for scoring 84 runs in the quarter finals against Australia.

  • Yuvraj Singh made his test debut at his home ground in Mohali against New Zealand on 16 October 2003. However, he found success in the format in 2004 against Pakistan in Multan. He scored his maiden fifty and maiden century during the series.

  • Yuvraj became one of the permanent faces in the Indian cricket team, but struggled with his form.

    He could not perform in the Asia Cup and ICC Champions Trophy in 2004.

    During the 2005 Indian Oil Cup, a tri-series with Sri Lanka and West Indies, Yuvraj was the leading run-scorer.

    Before the 2007 World Cup, he was benched due to a knee injury.

  • Yuvraj was named the Vice-Captain of the Indian team that participated in the first edition of the ICC World Twenty20.

    He had a fantastic run at the tournament where he scored two fifties against England and Australia.

    In the 2011 World Cup, Yuvraj scored four fifties, a century and took 15 wickets to win the Player of the Tournament award.

  • Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer post the 2011 World Cup.

    He underwent treatment in the US and recovered fully in March 2012.

    Following his discharge, he made a comeback in the Indian team and performed fairly well. However, he was not selected in Indian team for the 2015 World Cup.

    He was the third highest run-scorer in the T20 series against Australia in Jan'16.

  • In 2012, President Pranab Mukherjee presented the second highest sporting award, the Arjuna Award to Yuvraj Singh.

    Yuvraj was honoured with Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award in 2014.

    For his performance in the 2007 World T20, BCCI vice president Lalit Modi presented Yuvraj Singh with a Porsche 911.

    While other players were rewarded Rs.80 lakh, Yuvraj was given Rs.1 crore.

  • Yuvraj Singh has been named in India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against England which starts from 15 January.

    He had played his last ODI in December 2013 and was a part of T20 squad last year.

    Chief Selector MSK Prasad said that Yuvraj's performance in the Ranji Trophy has been impressive; hence his name has been added to the team.

    This is Yuvraj's second comeback in ODIs after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2011.

    After losing toss, India had a poor start in the match and were struggling at 25/3. However, a century from Yuvraj and a half century from Dhoni helped India recover. India is at 190/3.
