  • Sindhu first came into the spotlight in 2013 when she won the gold medal at the Malaysian Open Title.

However, it was at the Guangzhou World Championship, in the same year that the world stood up and took notice of her.

In the process, she became the first Indian women shuttler ever to win a singles medal at the World Championships.

  • In 2014, Sindhu replicated her performance again at the BWF World Championship in Denmark.

She ousted then World Number 1, Shixian Wang, in a thrilling encounter but crashed out in the semis.

However, she did become first Indian ever to win back to back medals at the World Championships by bagging yet another bronze medal.

  • Sindhu's first medal at a Super Series event came at the Denmark Open in 2015 when she bagged the silver medal.

She was in supreme form throughout the tournament and won against the likes of Wang Yihan and Carolina Marin.

However, Li Xuerui got the better of her in the final and Sindhu had to settle for silver.

  • The biggest moment of Sindhu's career came in 2016, when she bagged the silver medal at the Rio Olympics.

She endured a dream run before faltering at the final hurdle, but still, it was one better than what India had managed in badminton at the Olympics till 2016.

Moreover, her poise in the final showcased that her maturity was beyond her age.

  • In conclusion

    More glory lies ahead

    More glory lies ahead
  • After her Olympic win, not even for one moment has Sindhu shown any signs of stopping.

She went on to win gold medals at the China Open, her first Super Series gold, and defeated Marin to win the Indian Open.

At 22, she will only improve and dare I say, she might just go on to become one of the greatest of all-times.
