Articles about Robin Singh
The 1997-1998 Silver Jubilee Independence Cup played between Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan was an unforgettable tournament for Indian fans. In the third final against Pakistan, India chased a massive target of 315 set by Pakistan and won the tournament. One of the architects of the victory was a tenacious all-rounder - Robin Singh. Born on September 14, 1963, in Trinidad, Singh moved to India at an early age. He made his first-class debut for Tamil Nadu in the 1982-1983 season. His all-round abilities made him an important part of the team. Apart from being a talented batsman, he was also a smart medium pacer and an athletic ground-fielder. Singh made his international debut in an ODI against the West Indies in 1989. He was dropped after playing two matches. His next international call-up came after seven years. The seven-year hiatus made Singh a more mature player which in turn helped him to hold on to his spot in the team till 2001. Despite being a good ODI player, he has only played one Test match. After his retirement in 2004, Singh became a coach. He has coached teams such as Hong Kong, Mumbai Indians, etc.
