Rohit Sharma becomes second batter to complete 350 ODI sixes

Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has added another feather to his cap by becoming just the second player in history to complete 350 sixes in One Day Internationals (ODIs). He has joined Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, who finished his career with 351 maximums. The milestone was achieved with Rohit's first maximum during India's series opener against South Africa in Ranchi. Rohit hits three sixes in knock of 57 vs SA

Rohit ended up hammering 57 runs from 51 balls with 5 fours and three sixes. He was part of a century-plus stand alongside Virat Kohli for the 2nd wicket. Nandre Burger dismissed the batter in the 22nd over of India's innings.

Rohit's six-hitting prowess in ODIs

Rohit Sharma, fondly known as 'Hitman,' has been a nightmare for bowlers with his aggressive batting style. He took 277 games to complete 350 sixes in the ODI format. Besides Rohit and Afridi, West Indies's Chris Gayle (331) is the only other batter in the 300 sixes club. Among active players, England's Jos Buttler is closest to Rohit with 182 sixes.

Only player with this feat 

Out of Rohit's 352 ODI sixes, a whopping 182 have come in India. No other player has even 150 sixes in this regard. The Indian opener has tallied 105 sixes in away (home of opposition) games. Afridi (134) is the only player with 100-plus sixes in these games. Rohit's remaining 65 sixes have come in neutral matches.

Only cricketer in 600-sixes club 

Last year, Rohit became the first-ever player to smack 600 sixes across formats in international cricket. He now owns 645 maximums as Gayle remains the only other player to have slammed over 500 maximums (553). Only one other player has more than 400 sixes in international cricket - Afridi (476). Among Indians, MS Dhoni follows Rohit with 359 international maximums.

Rohit's ODI career in statistics

With a knock of 57, Rohit now owns 11,427 runs in ODIs at 49.25. He has hit 33 centuries in this format, which is third only to Virat Kohli (51) and Sachin Tendulkar (49). The former Indian captain also has 60 fifties under his belt in ODIs. He is the only player with multiple double-hundreds in the format, having accomplished the feat thrice.
