Saeed Anwar is a former professional cricket player from Pakistan who has also formerly served as a captain for One Day Internationals and Test matches. The opening batsman played international cricket between the years 1989 and 2003. Anwar is regarded as one of the greatest opening batsmen in the history of Pakistan’s cricket. He has scored 20 centuries in ODI matches which is more than any other Pakistani batsman in this format. The left-handed batsman was born on September 6, 1968, in Karachi and has played 55 Tests and 247 ODIs in his career span. He made his ODI debut in 1989 against West Indies. In November 1990, Anwar made his Test debut against the same team in Faisalabad. In 1997, he won the title of the Wisden Cricketer of the Year. He has also scored three successive hundreds in ODIs. In the year 2003, he bid farewell to international cricket.
