    Bangladesh assures security to England Cricket Team
  • Bangladesh police has assured security to the England cricket team who will be visiting the South-Asian nation for a cricket series.

    Dhaka police spokesman Masudur Rahman said, "We are committed to provide the highest security to the visitors and we are capable of doing so."

    England will be reaching Bangladesh tomorrow and will play three ODIs and two test matches.

  • Australian cricket team has not toured Pakistan since 1998, following the rise of terrorist attacks there.

    The team also backed out of the World Cup match against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 1996.

    In 2002, New Zealand team abandoned their Pakistan tour in the middle of the series after a bomb exploded outside their hotel in Karachi. 11 people were killed in the attack.

  • While on their way to play a cricket match against Pakistan in Lahore, the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked by a group of 12 gunmen of terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

    Six Pakistani policemen and two civilians were killed, while six Sri Lankan national cricket team members were injured in the attack.

    Following the attacks, no international cricket series has been played in Pakistan.

  • England ODI captain Eoin Morgan has opted out of the team's Bangladesh tour in October due to security reasons. Along with Morgan, opening batsman Alex Hales also opted out citing same reasons.

    England cricket board carried out a detailed security check before the tour was planned.

    Team Director Andrew Strauss said that they respected both the players' decision but were disappointed with their unavailability.

  • Former England captains Michael Vaughan and Naseer Hussain have expressed their disappointment over Morgan and Hales's decision. While Vaughan said that the decision was a huge mistake, Naseer commented that Morgan should be with his team.
