The recovery process is going as planned and he hasn't faced any discomfort despite the multiple flights taken during this period. Although he has stayed away from the nets, he is expected to start batting soon under BCCI medical team's supervision at CoE.
Gill's neck injury and recovery timeline
Gill was ruled out of the first Test against South Africa after suffering a neck injury during the first innings. He was ruled out of that match as well as the next one. After consulting a spine specialist in Mumbai, he was advised more rest before starting rehab, training, and skill activity.
Gill's participation in T20I series remains uncertain
The next few days will be crucial in determining Gill's availability for the five-match T20I series against South Africa, starting December 9. Having already missed Tests and ODIs, he is leaving no stone unturned to regain fitness before this shortest format. An official privy to developments said there are no red flags at the moment and all efforts are aimed at having him back on the field but it won't be a rushed process.
