The fire burnt everyone and charred the bodies beyond recognition. The death toll is expected to rise as many more may die in the hospital. Fire brigade had started the rescue mission immediately.

Imran Khan grieves the death of those killed in Bahawalpur
Imran Khan, former cricketer and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in a tweet said "Shocking & heartbreaking tragedy this morning in Ahmedpur Sharkia: oil tanker blaze killing 200. A national tragedy of epic proportions."
PM, President and Army chief express grief
Official broadcaster Radio Pakistan announced that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain had expressed deep regret and anguish over the tragic accident in Bahawalpur. Pakistani military's spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor also announced that the Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa had been overcome with grief over the lives lost in the fire.
