External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Monday held bilateral talks with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in a bid to strengthen ties between the two allies.
She will also be meeting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
Officials said that discussions were held on all facets of the bilateral relationship including political, security, trade and economy, defense, science and technology and culture.

Sushma departs for four-day Iran, Russia visit

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj embarked on a four-day visit to Iran and Russia.
The visit would see her attend a bilateral joint commission meeting in Tehran and a trilateral meeting in Moscow with her counterparts from Russia and China.
In Tehran, she would hold meetings with her Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
In Moscow she was expected to hold discussions with Sergei Lavrov.

India-Iran step-up ties after Sushma's visit

Engagement between India and Iran improved after the visit by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, taking forward the progress on the Chabahar port and India's stake in the Farzad-B gas field.
The two sides agreed to fast-track pending deals such as Preferential Trade Agreement, Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement and a Bilateral Investment Treaty.
Iran expressed interest in investing in India's refinery sector.

On the Chabahar project, it was agreed that contract as well as modalities for extending $150 million credit for the port would be signed soon, indicating that the project has now been put on fast-track.

Sushma Swaraj arrives in Moscow

External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj arrived in Moscow for the second leg of her two-nation visit.
As a part of the visit, she is scheduled to attend the annual trilateral Russia-India-China foreign ministers' meeting.
She is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with her Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
She is also expected to hold bilateral discussions with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

Sushma takes up Masood Azhar issue with China

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj raised the issue of China blocking India's bid at the UN to designate JeM chief Masood Azhar as a terrorist with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
In her address at the Foreign Ministers' meeting of RIC, she said the grouping must lead the world in fighting terrorism.
She also warned of consequences if countries adopted "double standards" against terrorism.
