No. There is no provision in Saubhagya scheme to provide free power to any category of households. The cost of electricity consumption or electricity bill has to be paid by the consumers as per prevailing tariff of the DISCOM or power department.

Households that are un-electrified but not covered under the SECC 2011 data may also avail electricity connections under the scheme. They will have to make a payment of Rs. 500 in 10 installments to DISCOMs through electricity bills.

Is electricity connection completely free for identified un-electrified households?

Yes. Identified households would be provided electricity connections free of cost. Other un-electrified households would also be provided electricity connections under the scheme on payment of Rs.500, payable to DISCOMs/Power Department in 10 installments along with electricity bills.

Yes, Saubhagya scheme is for all the un-electrified households in any of the states or Union Territories of the country. Under Saubhagya, all un-electrified households in rural areas, as well as poor un-electrified households in urban areas, are eligible for electricity connection as per the guidelines.
