British luxury carmaker Aston Martin has taken the wraps off its brand new V12 Speedster. The two-seater sports car, built by 'Q by Aston Martin' bespoke customization service, draws inspiration from both the brand's rich racing history and aeronautical design.
It looks like a roof-less, four-wheeled fighter jet and packs 700hp of power that allows it to hit 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
Aston Martin V12 Speedster: At a glance
The V12 Speedster features the iconic Aston Martin grille and headlights with some bold-looking body lines that extend through the rear end. However, there is no roof or windshield, just a couple of cockpit-like spaces for the driver and co-passenger.
The car also gets a light-weight carbon fiber body and 21-inch centerlock wheels with 410mm front and 360mm rear carbon-ceramic brakes.
Inside the cabin
Meanwhile, there is no cabin either, but two elongated oval openings that house the seats. For upholstery, there are some carbon fiber and leather elements. Other highlights include a multi-functional steering wheel, an Aston Martin leather satchel, some luggage space on the rear, and no fancy big screens for infotainment.
However, buyers will be able to customize the V12 Speedster as per their tastes.
Under the hood
Power and performance
The V12 Speedster is powered by a 5.2-liter, twin-turbo V12 engine which generates 700bhp of maximum power and 753Nm of torque.
The front mid-mounted engine comes mated to a ZF 8-Speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels.
The V12 Speedster can sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 300km/h for millionaires who want to spoil their hairdo.
Pricing and availability
The V12 Speedster comes at a starting price of $950,000 (approximately Rs. 7 crore). According to Aston Martin, only 88 units will be produced. The company is currently accepting orders for the premium sports car and deliveries are expected to commence early next year.
