Bengaluru: Bus stops to display real-time information

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Communication (BMTC) has planned to launch digital bus-information displays at 251 bus stops in the city.

These passenger information systems (PIS) will be displayed at significant bus stands such as Majestic, Shantinagar, Shivajinagar, Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) etc.

The PIS will display data regarding the arrival and departure times of buses, news feeds etc.

Bengaluru's century-old Badami House to be decimated

100-year-old Badami House, which has been the heart of Kannada cinema for four decades, is going to be demolished within a month.

The George Oakes Building was home to the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) and the Film Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations.

The decision comes after a lengthy legal tussle between the Karnataka government and Bux Ranka Developers.

Freedom Park will witness Beku Beda Santhe this weekend

In order to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Steel Flyover Beda Campaign, Bengaluru's citizen activists will host Beku Beda Santhe at Freedom Park on October 15th (Sunday).

'Beku' and 'Beda' mean "want" and "don't want" respectively, and 'Santhe' means "festival" in Kannada.

The event will feature panel discussions on various problems currently plaguing the city such as potholes, floods etc.

Landlord's son uploads tenants' intimate moments on porn website

A couple renting a house in Bengaluru's Sri Rama Layout has alleged that their landlord's son installed a spy camera in their bedroom, and uploaded the couple's intimate moments on a pornographic website.

The complaint comes after the husband received a mysterious phone call on September 29th, wherein the caller informed him of the same.

The suspect's whereabouts are currently unknown.


Bengaluru: Five children lost lives to dengue in October

According to Bengaluru's government-run Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH), dengue has caused five child deaths in the last five days.

The last death, recorded on October 11th, took the toll of dengue-related deaths in IGICH to 56 this year.

Surprisingly, the health and family welfare department of the government stated that no dengue-deaths have occurred in Bengaluru in the last five days.


BCU to bring about technological reforms

The Bengaluru Central University (BCU) is set to bring about many changes in administration for its ambitious plans to be a high-tech public university.

BCU is planning to digitize everything from its admissions and administration to examinations and their evaluation.

The university will also introduce smart-cards, with the use of which students can avail various facilities on campus.
