Bengaluru: Online fraud racket busted, four people held

Criminal Investigation Department's (CID) cyber-crime investigators arrested four persons hailing from Jharkhand and busted their phishing racket in Bengaluru.

Officials recovered details of 16,000 bank accounts and 460 SIM cards.

The online conmen resorted to bottom phishing, wherein they transferred money in small amounts from the bank accounts of several victims.

BMRCL to remove Hindi signages from Bengaluru metro stations

The campaign against Hindi imposition seems settled now with BMRCL official confirming that all Hindi signages will be removed from metro stations.

This move comes after Kannada Development Authority (KDA) Chairman SG Siddaramaiah visited BMRCL office.

"We have verbally assured KDA that Hindi signs will be removed from Metro Stations," BMRCL official said. However, no definite timeline was set for removal of signages.


Karnataka CM to police: "Do not grow potbellies like us"

Taking a jibe at police forces, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah told them to maintain their fitness level.

"You need to be physically strong and capable. Do not grow potbellies like us," he advised.

Even Police Commissioner Praveen Sood was in agreement but added it was up to personnel.

"Department cannot bear pressure on them to maintain their fitness as they have hectic schedules," Sood said.

Jet Airways employee held for smuggling gold at Mangaluru airport

Lalbin Jeen, working with Jet Airways at Mangaluru Airport, was caught red handed as he got out of an aircraft's rear toilet with two gold bars, worth Rs. 34.41 lakh, by Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials.

Jeen boarded the plane that arrived from Dubai under the pretext of doing maintenance-work.

He reportedly confessed to the crime. Jet airways said that Jeen has been suspended.

A Bengaluru based auto driver Nagendra has been arrested for allegedly killing his friend Ravi Kumar who had asked Nagendra to repay the loan of Rs. 4.5 lakh.

The incident happened when they both met, consumed alcohol and ended up having an argument which got out of hand. They often fought about it.

Police have registered a case of murder. Investigations are going on.
