Adobe integrates Aadhaar-based authentication on Adobe Sign
American multinational software firm Adobe Systems said that in order to promote e-signatures in India, it will now start integrating Aadhaar-based authentication into its e-signature feature "Adobe Sign".
This initiative has been taken on the basis of its study, which deduced how e-signatures would change Indian businesses and how it could participate in Digital India drive.
What is it all about?
Citing data from its commissioned survey, "Adobe E-signatures Indian Market Study," the firm said that the e-signature market in India is currently growing at a CAGR of 57%.
It further estimates that by 2020, the number would cross 90 million transactions. To be a part of this growth, Adobe has decided to invest in the integration of Aadhaar-based authentication and a local data center.
Being a part of the journey
Adobe's South Asia MD Kulmeet Bawa said, "With around 30% market penetration and about 70% of companies yet to start their e-signature journey, the Aadhaar-based authentication built in 'Adobe Sign' is the industry's first solution to make e-signatures legally binding in India."
Legal validity will drive the usage of e-signatures among businesses, which until now, have only used it for internal purposes, he added.
Why is it needed?
The firm stated that the Aadhaar-based e-signature process in Adobe Sign will enable the users to digitally validate their legal identity while signing documents at any given time, thereby, making the entire workflow smooth and sans hiccups.
Also, almost 55% of its survey respondents believe that adopting e-signatures would slash down their existing IT operating costs by up to 10-25%.
A local data centre
Adobe has announced a local data center that they'll roll out soon, as the aforementioned study indicates that Indian businesses prefer to opt for a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that's based in the country.
Adobe Document Cloud's VP-engineering Abhigyan Modi said, "India is a strategic focus for Adobe and our engineering labs are committed to making deep investments…to address the needs of our customers here."
