Machine-operated boats to drastically reduce commute time
Essentially machine-operated boats, Ola's river taxis are expected to cut down the current commute time of 45 minutes (by road) to 2-5 minutes in water.
Ola's pilot project of high-speed taxis will operate on the Lachit Ghat, Machkhowa and the north Guwahati route.
Aiming to strengthen the city's local transportation infrastructure, Ola will also take advance bookings and cashless payments.
Commuters will now have greater convenience, choice and comfort
Ola first started with its cab-hailing services in Assam in December 2014. With this new partnership, the Assam government is hopeful that Ola's entry in the river transportation sector will provide commuters greater choice and comfort.
Meanwhile, Ola said the latest move furthers its intent to stand out as a convenient, safe and reliable mode of transportation.
