Users can also book bus tickets, pay bills on Hike

Kavin Bharti Mittal, Hike CEO, said they're excited by this development, "a first in a messaging app in India."

This will ensure "the best and most relevant experience is delivered to our users," said Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola CEO.

Starting tomorrow, Hike will roll out many new features, including letting users book bus tickets and pay bills for electricity, gas, DTH, and landline.

This comes even as WhatsApp tests payments feature in India

Last week, Hike's rival WhatsApp started testing its Unified Payment Interface (UPI)-based payment service in India. With this, users will be able to send money to friends directly on WhatsApp. Since it's a UPI-based payment method, users will have to link their bank accounts.
