"We will continue to expand our content partnerships and bring more exciting innovations to our users," the telco added.
Content is key
What drives 50 million customers to download a TV app?
Currently, Airtel TV app offers over 375 live TV channels, more than 10,000 movies, and several popular shows.
The company has also partnered with content providers Like Eros Now, SonyLIV, HOOQ, Hotstar, Amazon, ALTBalaji, and several others.
Moreover, the app also offered free access to IPL 2018 live matches and highlights, unlike Hotstar which charged a membership fee.
Apart from content, in India, local languages are the king
While content is key, in India's diverse culture, local languages play a far crucial role than just content. And Airtel TV offers content in 15 languages, including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Odia, Urdu and even French.
