The all new Mahindra Marazzo was launched in India today at a starting price of Rs. 9.9 lakh, thereby intensifying the competition in India's multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) space.
The new car will be available in four variants - M2, M4, M6, M8 - and will compete directly with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Tata Hexa, and segment leader Toyota Innova Crysta.
Reportedly, Mahindra had invested a whopping $200mn in developing the Marazzo.
The Marazzo's design is shark-like, with its streamlined, aerodynamic body, its crease lines, and its front grille giving it an aggressive, imposing look.
Adding to the Marazzo's aesthetics are bold, double-barreled headlamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
On the inside, the overall cabin design gives the car a premium look and feel.
The Marazzo will be powered by a 1.5-liter diesel engine that delivers a maximum power of 121 bhp, and a maximum torque of 300 Nm.
Mahindra has promised a fuel efficiency of around 17.6 kmpl.
Reportedly, Mahindra is also working on a petrol variant that might be launched when BS VI emission norms come into force from April 2020.
The car also has a lot to offer in terms of features.
Marazzo comes with a well-equipped touchscreen infotainment system, with USB, Bluetooth, and AUX support.
Additionally, controls for telephony, audio, and cruise control will come mounted on the car's three-spoke steering wheel.
Mahindra also claims that the Marazzo's roof-mounted air conditioning system will sport an industry-first surround cool technology.
In terms of pricing, the ex-showroom prices of the M2, M4, M6, and M8 variants are Rs. 9.99 lakh, Rs. 10.95 lakh, Rs. 12.40 lakh, and Rs. 13.90 lakh, respectively.
It's worth noting that all the aforementioned models are 7-seater models. For an 8-seater model, you'll have to shell out an extra Rs. 5,000.
Notably, if demand is sufficient, Mahindra might export the Marazzo.
