In a bid to retain existing customers and attract new ones, all the major telcos have started revising their plans to offer more calling, data as well as bundled content benefits.
Today, we look at the content bundles offered by Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea to understand which operator provides better benefits with its prepaid plans.
Here's our analysis.
Reliance Jio offers a bunch of content with Prime membership
Reliance Jio offers a live TV app called JioTV which provides access to 600+ live TV channels and exclusive Jio channels as well.
In terms of video-on-demand, the telco offers JioCinema app; and for music streaming, there is JioSaavn app.
However, for accessing Jio suite of apps, you must have Jio Prime membership which costs Rs. 99 per year for all prepaid subscribers.
Here's a look at Airtel's content portfolio
Like Jio, Airtel also offers live TV access via its Airtel TV app. This app provides access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows, bringing on-demand content from partners like HOOQ, Eros Now, ALTBalaji, Hungama, and others.
Further, the telco also provides Wynk music app, Wynk Tube app for video songs, as well as Airtel Books for reading.
Vodafone-Idea also offer bundled content benefits with prepaid plans
Vodafone has a Vodafone Play app which provides access to live TV as well as on-demand video content from ZEE5, ALTBalaji, Arre, and others.
Similarly, Idea offers its subscribers access to Idea Movies and TV app which brings Live TV, movies, TV shows, and content from providers like SonyLIV, ZEE5, ShemarooMe, Sun NXT, Hoichoi, Eros Now, and Hungama.
So, whose content is better?
Jio offers a rather complete content library with over 600 TV channels, exclusive channels, and JioSaavn music app. However, these services cost Rs. 99 annually.
Vodafone and Idea also offer decent content benefits but they still trail behind Jio and Airtel.
Hence, at no extra charges, Airtel has an edge with its live TV service, movies, and music.
