Amazon India has partnered with popular entertainment ticketing website BookMyShow to sell movie tickets on its platform.
The service, launched by Jeff Bezos-owned internet giant as part of an effort to expand its Amazon Pay portfolio, is available right away and can be used by both Prime and Non-Prime users.
Here's all you need to know about it.
BMS ticket-booking experience on Amazon's app
As part of the latest partnership, Amazon will offer the ticket-booking experience of BookMyShow under the 'Amazon Pay' tab of its own app and mobile website.
The service had debuted with the ability to help users process bills and recharges, but over the past few months, Amazon has expanded it to include flight booking, electricity bill payments, taxes, water bills et al.
So, how can you book movie tickets on Amazon?
To book movie tickets on Amazon, launch its mobile website or app, log into your account, and head over to the 'Amazon Pay' section.
From there, scroll down, tap on 'Movie tickets', and select your city, the movie you want to watch and preferred theater/date.
Next, the app will redirect to the page for seat selection and you can proceed to complete the booking.
Finally, you can complete the payment, reap rewards
Once you've selected the seats, the app will take you to the payment page, where you could use any of Amazon's digital payment options to pay.
This includes credit/debit cards, net banking, Amazon Pay balance, Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card, and Amazon Pay UPI.
Notably, the company is also offering 20% cashback up to Rs. 200 as part of a fresh launch offer.
Clearly, Amazon is expanding its portfolio in India
The latest move from Amazon comes as it continues to expand its footprint in India.
Currently, the internet giant dominates the e-commerce scene in the country, but beyond that, it is also striving to barge into other categories.
Reports have indicated that the company will take on Zomato/Swiggy with a food-delivery business as well as ed-tech start-ups GradeUp/Testbook with dedicated test-preparation services.
