While cracking GATE and getting into premier institutes and top PSUs isn't easy, topping it is no small feat.
Here's what last few years' GATE toppers are doing now.
He appeared for GATE while he was in BTech final-year at Mumbai's Sardar Patel College of Engineering.
After cracking GATE, he opted for a PSU career and joined Indian Oil Corporation as Officer (Engineering and Projects).
Anupam Samantaray was one of the toppers of the GATE exam conducted in 2016. He bagged AIR-1 in the Electrical Engineering stream.
He was in the final-year of BTech (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela when he appeared for GATE.
Ravi Shankar Mishra bagged AIR-1 in GATE-2015 for the Computer Science & Engineering branch.

After clearing GATE, he opted to pursue postgraduation at IIT Bombay, where he obtained his Master's Degree in Computer Science & Engineering from in 2017. He later worked with Microsoft and is currently an Applied Scientist at Amazon.
Ankit Goyal emerged as the topper of GATE-2014 in Electrical Engineering.
Goyal, who completed BTech from IIT-Indore in 2013, was working with Qualcomm when he appeared for GATE. However, instead of opting for postgraduation or a PSU career, he co-founded GATE coaching institute, Kreatryx, in 2014.
Notably, he bagged GATE AIR-1 for the second time in 2018; previously, he secured AIR-8 in GATE-2013 too.
Vinod Kumar Datusliya was one of the toppers of GATE-2013. He secured AIR-1 in the Mechanical Engineering stream.
He appeared for GATE after obtaining Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Marine Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2009.
He joined the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru for Master's in Aerospace Engineering after clearing GATE. He's currently a Thermal System Design Engineer at GE Power.
