Parking on footpaths could soon be a legal offence

The Supreme Court-mandated Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) has prepared a new action plan which could make parking of vehicles on footpaths a cognizable offense.

The plan suggests raising parking penalties to 10 times the parking fees, along with the impounding of vehicles.

Gurugram residents face water shortage

Gurugram residents face water shortage

Since the last few days, water supply in several areas of Gurugram like Model Town, Shanti Nagar, New Colony, Patel Nagar, sectors 21, 22, 23 and 45 and private colonies DLF and Sushant Lok has been inadequate.

Residents have blamed the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for the acute water shortage whereas HUDA claims that it has been supplying 70 million gallons per day.

Jat agitation called off, Delhi remains watchful

Despite the Jats calling off their protests, Delhi Police on Sunday said that security arrangements will remain the same until further orders.

In a statement issued late Sunday night, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that restrictions on the exit will continue at Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhavan and Lok Kalyan Marg.

Security checks by traffic police in New Delhi will continue.

Noida

Roads across UP-NCR congested due to security

On Sunday, areas across UP-NCR witnessed major traffic snarls due to the security arrangements made due to the Jat agitation protest.

Roads from Mayur Vihar to Mahamaya flyover in Noida were jammed, so were sectors 1, 16 and 62 and Kalindi Kunj.

Sealing of the UP-Delhi border to prevent protestors from entering Delhi created disturbances in the movement of traffic.

Atul Garg becomes MoS in Yogi Adityanath's cabinet

On Sunday, Atul Garg, a newly elected legislator from Ghaziabad was sworn in as the Minister of State in Yogi Adityanath's cabinet.

Albeit he is yet to be allotted a portfolio, Garg was the only one to earn a ministerial position from 8 candidates of Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad districts.

His plan is to concentrate on Ghaziabad's all-round development.

Clash with Jat protesters injure cops

On Sunday afternoon, a clash with the Jat agitation protesters injured 16 police personnel including a female Station House Office (SHO).

Hundreds of protesters were on their way to a dharna site when they were stopped by a team of police at Dhani Gopal, Fatehabad.

Within 30 minutes of the clash, 2 police vehicles were set on fire.

The police, too, used tear-gas shells.
