Delhi: Four Bhondsi jail-mates in Limca Book of Records

The Limca Book of Records now features four inmates of the Bhondsi jail for installing 'Phoenix' (a prison-management software) in 11 prisons of Haryana.

According to the authorities, it was the first time in the history of the jail department that prisoners were sent to other jails across the state for "work purposes."

DDA ties up with banks for distributing housing scheme forms

Delhi Development Authority's new housing scheme is expected to be initiated after the municipal corporation elections.

DDA has collaborated with 8 banks (5 private and 3 government) for the scheme.

These banks (Bank of Baroda, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India, Central Bank and HDFC Bank) will offer forms for the housing scheme.


HC judgment paves way for completion of Dwarka Expressway

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) was directed by the Punjab and Haryana HC to settle claims of landowners whose properties were acquired for the rehabilitation of the Dwarka Expressway oustees in Sector 110A, within a month.

HUDA can now start working on the completion of the Dwarka Expressway and the rehabilitation of the oustees.

Oustees may be allotted alternate plots by HUDA.

Election Commission appoints teams to keep code-of-conduct in check

The Delhi State Election Commission (DSEC) has deployed two teams per ward to supervise potential violations of the model code of conduct in place for the municipal corporation elections.

According to sources, these teams comprise of officials from Delhi Police as well as the municipal corporations and will be on the lookout for illegal usage of publicity materials.


Yogi Adityanath cracks down on inefficient law and order force

Newly appointed Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath has prioritized scrutinizing the law and order situation.

Ghaziabad SSP Deepak Kumar suspended 44 policemen across different police stations; Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Dharmendra Singh transferred 66 junior policemen.

These transfers and suspensions were carried out due to negligence and non-proactive work on pending cases.

Policemen across UP were also instructed to prepare for Chaitra Navratra.


JNU initiates admission procedure with fewer seats

The Delhi High Court disregarded a plea submitted by students challenging Jawaharlal Nehru University's admission policies for the M.Phil and PhD programmes.

On Tuesday, JNU released its prospectus with seat cuts in the M.Phil and PhD programmes across different courses aligning with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Some centres of the university will accept just 1 student in these programmes.
