Delhi- Fire in Chandni Chowk guts down 40 shops

On the night of 22nd May, a major fire broke out in Old Delhi's Chandni Chowk area; albeit there were no casualties reported, goods worth crores may have been lost.

A senior official from the Delhi Fire Services said approximately 40-50 wholesale shops were decimated in the fire, which fire fighters took 7 hours to subdue.

In order to restore strength to the Aam Aadmi Party, Arvind Kejriwal has planned to hold a series of dialogue and discussions with party workers.

Starting 25th May, the CM will interact with farmers across Delhi.

The meetings will focus on the recent notification passed on the Land Pooling Policy, under which 89 rural villages were declared as urbanized areas for development.

DU's St. Stephen's reserves 3 seats for martyrs' children

In a first, Delhi University's St Stephen's College reserved 3 additional seats for martyrs children for admission to the upcoming academic session.

Unlike other DU-affiliated colleges, St Stephen's College has never reserved seats for the children of martyrs; other colleges reserve an additional 5% seats for the same.

Officials said aspiring candidates would first have to finish online registration process on the DU website.

Four bike-borne robberies in one day in Ghaziabad

Four different localities of Ghaziabad reported bike-borne robberies on 22nd May.

Three women were robbed off their gold ornaments and a collection agent was robbed off Rs. 2.43 lakh.

The senior superintendent of police held a meeting with all the station house officers of the city's police stations.

The gold ornaments included two gold chains and a pair of earrings.

Delhi's dengue hotspots still under the radar

Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has recorded 38 cases of dengue and 90 cases of chikungunya until 20th May this year.

However, the corporation failed to obtain the addresses where the infection originated for 86% of the cases.

Without identifying the localities, actions for curbing the mosquito menace become futile.

For this, MCD teams have to remain present at all hospitals to collect data.

Gurugram

Officials directed to keep Hero Honda Chowk from waterlogging

Chief Secretary (CS) of Haryana, DS Dhesi has already warned Gurugram's district administration officials of strict action if Hero Honda Chowk gets waterlogged yet again this monsoon.

He also held a progress review meeting on 20th May with the district administration on the widening of the Khandsa drain, which passes via the Hero Honda Chowk.

Officials were asked to speed up the road-widening work.
