DU Admissions- ECA admissions get more simple

This year, admission procedure for students applying to colleges through the 'Extra-Curricular Activities' quota in DU has changed in many ways.

The procedure will give them a chance to compete on the basis of their talent and not certification.

Students are now expected to upload only one certificate in the mandatory uploads section in the registration form.

Gurugram's Heritage Line to open this Sunday

The Heritage Line of Delhi Metro will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on 28th May (Sunday) at 10 am.

Post the inauguration, the ITO-Kashmere Gate section will be opened to public 12 noon onwards.

This is part of Delhi Metro's Phase-3 and once completed, ridership is expected to rise to 45 lakh.

Hospital hires doctors to operate ventilators because of staff crunch

Delhi's largest state-run healthcare centre, the Lok Nayak hospital has hired 36 doctors to operate its ventilators, something ideally operated by OT Technicians.

Sources say the hospital has been unable to recruit the needed number of technicians owing to procedural hurdles.

The recruited doctors are being trained under the anaesthesia division and that ventilators would be functional in 5-6 days.

Heat strokes kill 4 peacocks in one week

People For Animals from Gurugram have confirmed the deaths of four peacocks in one week in different parts of the city due to heat strokes.

The dead peacocks were recovered from Jharsa, Ghata, Manesar and Dhankot area.

A doctor from the Jain Bird Hospital said Delhi's temperature was hovering above 40 degrees Celsius last month and thus an increasing number of birds are dying.

6-year-old homeless girl raped in Yamuna Bazaar

Delhi Police said a 6-year-old homeless girl in North Delhi's Yamuna Bazaar was raped by a 30-year-old man.

The accused, Shiva, was arrested two hours after the crime and a case was registered against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The girl was spotted by a local in a park, who called the Delhi Commission for Women helpline.

Gurugram

Sector 14's market road to become one-way

The main road of Sector 14 HUDA market is set to become one-way from 27th May onwards during evening hours.

This decision was undertaken by members of the local residents' welfare association (RWA) and the Gurugram police, to ensure better traffic management.

According to a spokesperson of the traffic police, the one-way will be first made available from 5-9 pm on a trial basis.
