Delhi: Crimes against women drop this year

According to police-figures, cases of molestation and rape have dropped in Delhi this year. 836 rape cases were reported till May 31 as against 924 in the same period last year.

Molestation cases have dropped to 1,412 from 1,841.

This could be the result of deployment of women patrol-teams in markets and periodic holding of self-defence classes.

A government-appointed committee recommended the Delhi wakf commissioner to take a final call on the ownership rights of the 123 prime wakf properties.

These are located in prime real estate such as Connaught Place, Janpath, etc and are worth crores of rupees.

This recommendation comes as a setback to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) that challenged the UPA government's decision to de-notify the properties.

Conceptualized by traffic police and road owning agencies, PWD started decongesting a key south Delhi stretch, between Savitri Flyover and Chirag Dilli intersection.

In its first phase, a slip road will be constructed for traffic heading towards Saket and Ambedkar Nagar from Savitri Flyover in order to reduce the vehicular volume at the Chirag Dilli crossing.

Its construction will be completed by July 1.

DwarkaDwarka expressway finally inaugurated by Haryana CM

The Basai rail overbridge (ROB) also called as Dwarka Expressway was finally inaugurated after numerous delays by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

Fed up with waiting, some commuters had already started using one side of the overbridge.

The 1.3-km ROB will make travelling between Kherki Daula and Farrukhnagar easy. It will save 30 minutes. It is also connected to Pataudi, Jhajjhar and Manesar.
