Delhi Metro launches QR code facility to buy metro tokens
Delhi Metro launched Bharat Quick Response (QR) code facility, that enables metro travellers to recharge their smart cards or buy tokens using QR codes.
The facility, which will be introduced in a phased manner, is currently available at Rajiv Chowk, Rajendra Place, Seelampur, Pitampura and Nehru Place stations.

Delhi man accidentally drinks liquid nitrogen at a bar
A Delhi man started experiencing abdomen swelling and breathlessness after he gulped down a cocktail containing liquid Nitrogen with white smoke flowing from it at a bar.
He did not know he was to supposed to drink the cocktail after smoke had dissipated.
He was rushed to a hospital and the doctors found a huge hole in his stomach.
Despite NGT ban, open defecation continues on Yamuna floodplains
A month has passed since the National Green Tribunal (NGT) banned open defecation on Yamuna floodplains, yet nothing has changed.
The NGT had also directed the Delhi police to impose a fine of Rs. 5,000 on defaulters.
However, hundreds of rickshaw pullers and slum dwellers, who live in those areas, continue to go to the floodplains to relieve themselves everyday.

Delhi Metro's proposed Phase IV delayed due to funding tussle
Delhi Metro's proposed Phase IV for six lines, which was scheduled to start this year, has been delayed due to a funding tussle between AAP and the Central government.
The AAP-led government sought exemption from paying its share of debt for central taxes that amounts to Rs. 3,098 crore.
This demand has been rejected by the Centre.
Gurugram civic body issues licenses to meat shops
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) issued licenses to 25 shops, which met the hygiene standards, to sell meat in the city.
MCG commissioner said, "We've started the process of issuing licences for the first time and have received a large number of applications seeking a licence."
However, there are numerous shops in the city that continue to sell meat without licenses from MCG.
With no arrests, Jewar 'rape' victims threaten to kill themselves
After 40 days of Jewar gang-rape, murder and robbery case, the victims threatened to end their lives if the culprits are not arrested.
With no development in the case yet, the police are awaiting medical reports to confirm rape of the victims.
One of the victims said, "The government and the police will have to arrest the accused, otherwise, we will end our lives."
Police bust gang that used children for thefts at weddings
The police busted a gang of thieves that operated in and around Delhi's Dwarka region, who used children aged between 9 and 15, to enter wedding venues and steal cash and other valuables. The mastermind Raka has also been arrested.
Police have recovered Rs. 4 lakh in cash and valuables worth Rs. 8 lakh from them.
The gang has carried out seven such robberies.
Teen addict dies after from falling from hospital's fourth floor
With the intention of escaping from a de-addiction centre at a hospital in Bharat Nagar, a teenager died after falling from the fourth-floor window.
Two of his friends, who had helped him and were also trying to escape with him, were caught by the police authorities.
The teenage boy identified as Danish was addicted to thinners.
Police have initiated a probe into the incident.
