In a bid to take private vehicles off the roads, Delhi government is working on a new 'app-based AC Bus Service, 2017' proposal which will enable commuters to book tickets through mobile applications.
It will be run by private operators similar to app-based cab aggregators.
These AC buses will be equipped with GPRS, CCTV cameras and panic buttons.

MET department: Rain likely to hit Delhi on Tuesday
Delhiites will get some respite from the current humid weather as MET department forecasted rain and thunderstorms in Delhi from Tuesday night.
The showers will continue till Thursday afternoon which should bring down temperature by five degrees.
"This time however we are expecting some widespread rain activity, as a system has developed that might churn out rain from the clouds," an official said.
Delhi University to declare fourth cut-off list on July 13
With 73% admission seats approved till third cut-off, Delhi University will release fourth cut-off list on July 13.
It is expected that qualifying percentage will not drop by more than a mark or two for popular courses in fourth cut-off list.
Kamla Nehru College is likely to close admissions while Ramjas College still has seats for Bachelors in Commerce, English, History etc.

Delhi: Widower rapes 8-year-old while his teenaged daughter witnesses crime
Police arrested a widower as he allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in a park in Kamla Market. The daughter of the accused is believed to have seen the crime who will be counselled to become a witness.
The incident came to light after the victim narrated her ordeal to her mother who then alerted the police.
The victim is being counselled by experts.
BJP district president's driver and gunner manhandled by villagers
BJP's Ghaziabad district president Basant Tyagi's gunner and car driver were allegedly manhandled by a mob of 40-50 men after a Scorpio carrying 4-5 people brushed against Tyagi's Verna car when he was on his way back home to Loni.
The police have identified the suspects from CCTV footage and lodged an FIR. A hunt has been launched to arrest the people involved.
DMRC plans to provide last mile mile connectivity through e-rickshaws
Impressed by the success of e-rickshaw service in Noida and Ghaziabad, DMRC is planning to provide last mile connectivity through e-rickshaw service to metro commuters.
These e-rickshaw services will be differently designed and will cover a radius of 4km around metro stations.
They will be fitted with CCTV cameras and GPS to ensure passengers safety, especially of women commuters.
CSE study: Delhi's new rush hour is from 8am-8pm
Centre for Science and Environment analyzed Google maps June's data and revealed in its study that traffic 'rush hour' now extends from 8am-8pm, with average speeds not crossing 30 kmph 92% of the time.
"Delhi will run to a standstill. This is an inevitable consequence of explosive and unrestrained vehicle numbers that crossed 10 million in 2017," said Anumita Roy Chowdhury, executive director, CSE.
