Delhi HC clears 75-year-old DU professor of sexual harassment charge

Overruling Delhi University's (DU) Executive Council's decision, Delhi HC acquitted 75-year-old former DU professor, who was accused of sexual harassment by two researchers 16 years ago.

Delhi HC absolved him on the basis that professor wasn't given an opportunity to cross-examine complainants.

The court ordered university administration to release all retirement benefits to professor within three months.

In order to address traffic congestion in Noida's biggest commercial hub, Sector-18, the Noida authority has decided to commission the first multilevel car parking facility for people on October 2.

With just 7% of the work waiting to be completed, Noida authority will now invite tenders for operators to manage daily operations of the facility.

The eight-level parking facility can house 3,000 cars.

Delhi Police arrested Mukesh Yadav for allegedly beating his two minor daughters to death after he had an argument with his wife over dinner at their rented house in New Palam Vihar. He had also beaten his wife.

"The accused killed his daughters in a fit of rage," an official said.

According to police, Yadav was allegedly intoxicated at that time.

Three sanitation workers suffocated to death in sewer drain

Three sanitation workers, who entered a sewer drain to clean it sans any safety equipment, died after inhaling poisonous fumes within minutes in Lajpat Nagar.

The eye-witnesses didn't hear a single cry for help from labourers inside the manhole.

Police have registered a case against the contractor under IPC Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). He could be jailed for 10 years.

At present, every departing passenger pays Rs. 200 as PSF. DIAL wants to hike this fees upto Rs. 300-350, in order to clear Rs. 655.40 crore it owes to CISF.

In return, all they asked from these defaulters was a pledge that they would strictly follow traffic norms.

This drive began from Mahavir Chowk and was carried out at 10 locations in Gurugram.

PWD plans signals, road cuts to decongest West Delhi traffic

Ever since the inauguration of Vikaspuri-Meera Bagh elevated corridor, Najafgarh Road has become highly congested, especially the stretch near Janakpuri District Centre.

PWD now plans to bring in a consultant who will figure out a detailed plan to ease traffic movement on Najafgarh Road.

As an intermediate solution, PWD is going to install traffic signal under the flyover at Janakpuri and redesign the street.
