Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon has revealed that an unnamed film director assaulted her when she was 16.
Speaking at an Elle Women in Hollywood event, Witherspoon said she felt "true disgust at the director."
She felt "anger... at the agents and producers who made me feel silence was a condition of my employment".
Her revelations come amid the Harvey Weinstein sexual misconduct scandal.
"I wish I could tell you that that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly, it wasn't," Witherspoon said.
She said she's had multiple other "experiences of harassment and sexual assault" over the course of her career.
She said she was encouraged to speak out after several other actresses bravely went public with their experiences in recent times.
Meanwhile, actress Lena Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister in TV show 'Game of Thrones,' has accused producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment.
In a series of tweets, Headey said Weinstein was "furious" after she resisted his sexual advances.
She said the Hollywood mogul's actions had made her feel "completely powerless."
Headey joins nearly 40 other Hollywood actresses to accuse Weinstein of misconduct.
Headey's revelation comes amid reports that Weinstein has left the board of his studio, The Weinstein Company.
Last week, he was fired as chairman of the company but remained a board member.
He was also expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences that present the Oscar awards.
Weinstein has "unequivocally denied" the allegations of rape, sexual assault and harassment against him.
