Salling was first arrested in 2015
Salling appeared on Glee for eight years between 2009 and 2015.
Following a tip-off, he was arrested in 2015 for possessing thousands of graphic child sexual abuse images on his laptop and hard drive.
Mark was a gentle, loving person, says his lawyer
"It's a painful loss, again. Two young actors, lost too soon" Glee director Paris Barclay tweeted, along with a picture of himself with Salling and actor Cory Monteith, who also starred in the hit TV series.
Monteith died of drug overdose in 2013.
"Mark was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgement," Salling's lawyer said in a statement.
