After an enraged public spat with Vickey Lalwani, the editor of SpotBoyE, Kapil Sharma has sent a legal notice to him and his company.
The actor-comedian has sued SpotBoyE on the grounds of "defamatory articles" and "character assassination".
The tension between the two parties surfaced when Kapil went on an abusive rant against Lalwani on Twitter.
Apologize or meet in court: Kapil to Vickey
Kapil's advocate Tanveer Nizam confirmed the development, saying, "In view of the articles by Vickey Lalwani on SpotBoyE to wilfully defame my client, we have sent them a legal notice to publicly apologize within seven days, failing which we will institute civil and criminal proceedings against both."
Previously, SpotBoyE had released an audio clip in which Kapil can be heard hurling abuses at Vickey.
Kapil vs Vickey
Kapil had earlier filed a police complaint against Vickey and his former manager and ex-girlfriend Preeti Simoes, accusing them of trying to extort money from him.
He even tweeted a copy of the complaint a day after posting foul messages against the journalist.
"Vickey spread negative stories about me which affected my mental health," read Kapil's complaint.
