But amid this furore, something absurd has emerged: now Kylie Jenner fans are donating money to actually make her a billionaire.
Spoiler alert fans: she doesn't need your money.
Campaign started by Instagram star, people are actually donating money
The latest edition of Forbes reported the net worth of 20-year-old Kylie Jenner is $900 million. Her make-up range, brand tie-ups and TV shows contributed to it.
This means Jenner needs $100 million to become a billionaire. So Instagram star Josh Ostrovsky set up a GoFundMe campaign to help her.
At the time of press, the campaign had generated $1738. (No kidding!)
It's really important, the description of the campaign claims
"I don't want to live in a world where Kylie Jenner doesn't have a billion dollars. WE MUST RAISE 100 MILLION DOLLARS TO HELP HER GET TO A BILLION, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD, THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT," the campaign's description read.
Twitter users obviously had a lot of reactions on this
Even if the campaign was started in a jestful manner, people on Twitter had questions about the idea.
One user, @sarah_adams24, wrote: "Who in the right mind opens a Just Giving page to raise money for Kylie Jenner? The almost Billionaire. When there are so many charities that are desperate for donations. Like honestly. What. Is. Happening. In. The. World."
Why not make me rich, one Twitter user asks
Another user @dan1_california tweeted: "SORRY but i literally couldn't care less about kylie jenner or her "self made" wealth. There's literally children in cages and people still without clean drinking water. I'm sure she's doing just fine without donations."
@jiggyflyjoe quipped: "I don't know about Kylie Jenner, but I also accept donations to reach billionaire status. If we're just throwing it around anyway!"
