All that glitters today is definitely 'Gold'

Akshay Kumar's 'Gold' will release on Independence Day.

However, the filmmakers wished to celebrate free India's first gold medal. The medal was won on August 12, 1948 by the hockey team on British soil.

In honor, different iconic venues across the country would wear the shade of gold.

It is a sign of respect and honor to the victory, and obviously a good promotional stunt.

A little about the movie that's uniting the nation

'Gold' is a historical sports drama that will tell the tale of the Indian hockey team.

Akshay Kumar plays the role of Tapan Das, the man who coached the team to victory.

The film is fully expected to explore the feeling of patriotism immediately after independence.

We hope the film does well.
