Watch: 'Sui Dhaaga' and a tale of self-sustainability
The trailer for 'Sui Dhaaga' just dropped in. The upcoming film is directed by Sharat Katariya of 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' fame.
So far, the movie has generated some buzz and fans are excited.
Here's what the trailer is all about.
Dissecting the trailer piece by piece
Set in the heartlands of India, the trailer shows Mauji, a tailor with an optimistic view of life. In a joint family setting, his wife, Mamta, an embroider doesn't get time to interact with him due to daily chores.
However, at a party she sees him dehumanized by his bosses and urges him to be self-employed.
This starts off the fantastic journey of their venture - 'Sui Dhaaga, Made-In-India'.
Anushka and Varun
The leads and how they looked
Varun plays Mauji Uncle, the tailor, and Anushka plays, Mamta Aunty, the embroider.
Removed from the glitz of Bollywood, they channeled common people's persona to make the story believable.
Anushka looks pretty convincing as the supportive and encouraging wife, and Varun's character's self-belief shone all through.
Notably, this is the first time Varun and Anushka are collaborating on the silver screen.
The overt and covert message in 'Sui Dhaaga'
'Sui Dhaaga' inspires audiences to become self-reliant and proud entrepreneurs.
Varun's character portrays exactly that, balanced by Anushka's character's grounded realism.
Cashing in on the mood of the nation, the makers have given it a 'Make in India' angle, though it doesn't look out of place.
The trailer promises a good film, and to paraphrase Varun's character - everything is great!
Varun on bringing reality of characters to the screen
Varun reportedly said, "I approach even my fictional characters as biopic characters. I am playing a tailor in Sui Dhaga. It's not based on a particular person but it's based on my observations of common people and how they go to work."
