#BirthdaySpecial: Ranbir Kapoor and the never-fading beauty of 'Channa Mereya'
The scion of Kapoor Khandaan, the handsome man who stole hearts of millions, the amazing actor and the star who keeps trying, turned a year older today.
Ranbir Kapoor is the man who swayed everyone with an incredible performance in this year's 'Sanju'. But for someone, like me, getting over Ranbir in 'Channa Mereya' is impossible.
And that might not be a bad thing.
Ayan in 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and questions on love
In KJo's 2016 release on unrequited love, Ranbir was Ayan, a man-child with little knowledge about relationships.
As the minutes in the movie pass, Ayan grows. He understands heartbreak, takes his chance at rebound relationship (fails there too) and by the end sort of figures out his life.
But, between the 2:33 hour movie and 3:03 minutes of 'Channa Mereya', my vote goes to latter.
From lyrics to music to acting, 'Channa Mereya' was perfect
The beauty of the song is unmatched. Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics, Pritam's music, and Arijit Singh's voice fit like pieces of a puzzle.
Because what can beat, "Andhera tera maine le liya, Mera ujla sitaara tere naam kiya?"
While the intention here isn't to take away credit from those who were absent from the screen, not appreciating Ranbir in the song would be really unfair.
Ranbir was all of us at one point in time
With heena clad hands, Ayan expressed the love he never got from Alizeh (Anushka Sharma), and the pain touched all.
For a character who thought heartbreak equated to a fling ending and then going on to use a song to reveal his feelings, Ranbir was marvelous.
Yes, I may be romanticizing heartbreak, but we all are guilty of doing so. Till better sense prevails.
Ranbir wants to be a hero, whose actions are heroic
Now Ranbir's henna clad hands in the movie isn't a usual sight in Bollywood. For many years, we have seen actors drink up the pain. But Ranbir is different.
Speaking about this with InUth, once, he said he surrendered to every role.
"I always prefer the under hero. I don't like the larger than life hero. I like a hero whose deeds will be heroic," he said.
'Channa Mereya' is my bae, could be yours too!
Dear Ranbir, with the amazing work you are doing, I hope you get all the success. But even after many years, 'Channa Mereya' will remain the best minutes of your career for me. And thanks to you, I can't ever get bored with the song.
