You can't always get what you want

Fans are obviously excited at the news of 11 possible Oscar inclusions, but they wanted Josh Brolin to be nominated as Best Supporting Actor for his role as Thanos. However, Marvel Studios is favoring Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger, since Brolin's was a motion capture role.

Opinion

Superhero movies and awards

Superhero movies have long been snubbed from serious award categories, something the Oscars tried to rectify with their recent failed decision to include a separate category.

However, with superhero movies beginning to transcend realms of fantasy and engaging with pressing world issues, they deserve to be acknowledged critically and Disney's push for 'Infinity War' and 'Black Panther' signals a step in the right direction.
