While the movie opened to average reviews, the director is making headlines for an altogether different reason.
Reportedly, Vijay's mother Sudamati lodged a domestic violence complaint against her husband Ratnakar Gutte and six other members of the family at Parli in Maharashtra's Beed district.
Here's more on this.
According to the media reports, Sudamati alleged that her husband was an alcoholic who used to visit dance bars.
She also claimed that Ratnakar tortured her mentally and physically as he didn't like her.
Besides, some reports also claimed that there were frequent arguments in the family over property issues, following which Sudamati was tortured by her in-laws.
Confirming the news, a police official stated "In her complaint, she (Sudamati) alleged that her husband and his family members subjected her to mental and physical torture over a family dispute. They also threatened her to transfer property to their name."
Reportedly, after Sudamati's complaint, a case was registered against Ratnakar and his family under IPC Sections 498A, 323 and 504.
They are booked on account of subjecting a woman to cruelty, punishment for voluntarily causing hurt and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.
According to the reports, the police is investigating the matter. However, no arrest has been made in the case.
To recall, this isn't Vijay Gutte's first brush with the law as he was arrested in a GST fraud case of over Rs. 34 crore in August last year.
He was booked under IPC Section 132 (1)(c) of the CGST Act which is related to wrongful availment of input tax credit using bills that have been issued without any supply of goods or services.
