Marvel is finally taking a hint from DC and foraying into standalone female superhero movies, with Captain Marvel set to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
Their next female superhero getting her own movie is none other than our favorite spy from the Avengers, Black Widow.
However, reports now suggest the upcoming Black Widow movie could be R-rated.

While the plot and details of the movie remain under wraps, we do know some details about the film.
It will see Scarlett Johansson return as Natasha Romanoff and is supposed to explore her story before she first appeared in the MCU in Iron Man 2.
The film will be helmed by Cate Shortland and the script has been written by Jac Schaeffer.
According to Crazy Days and Nights, a Hollywood gossip site, the upcoming movie is going to be R-rated.
Marvel's first R-rated movie is going to be experimental for the studio which has made 20 PG-13 movies over the last decade.
Marvel's decision to make R-rated superhero movies is not sudden.
The giants of the industry noted the success Logan and the Deadpool films have had in the years.
Notably, Disney CEO Bob Iger had mentioned in 2017 that Marvel might consider an R-rated brand for a character like Deadpool.
We believe if Deadpool's content warrants an adult rating, so does Black Widow's.
We think Black Widow's movie will be ideal for an adult-friendly rating.
As we know, Natasha was a Russian spy before she joined SHIELD.
Comic fans will know that Natasha was trained by the Winter Soldier, who has already appeared in MCU, so fingers crossed for his appearance!
Showing a world of assassination and espionage will be dark, and Marvel's experiment could pay off.
