Vicky Kaushal's Uri: The Surgical Strike has been wreaking havoc at the box office. The movie made a collection of over Rs. 167.48cr in three weeks.

Based on the Indian Army's 2016 surgical strike on PoK, Uri emerged as the first bonafide blockbuster of 2019.

And now, the movie has created a new record surpassing super hits like Padmaavat and Sanju.

Here's how.

BO report

'Uri' earned more in second weekend than first, beaten 'Dangal'

Interestingly, this isn't the first record shattered by Uri.

The film earned higher in its second weekend than the first, and that's indeed commendable!

Uri made a collection of Rs. 35.92cr in its first weekend while its second weekend collection was Rs. 37.75cr.

This record is unprecedented and was not even achieved by the biggest blockbusters such as Dangal and Baahubali 2.

Given the way Uri is progressing, it might enter the prestigious Rs. 200cr club soon, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh predicts.

The film has also turned out to be a game changer for Vicky, becoming the highest opener of all time with him as the solo lead.

Earlier, this record was held by Sanju where Vicky played the role of Kamli.

Happiness

Vicky is elated over the success of 'Uri'

After Uri's grand success, Vicky is certainly on cloud nine and feels overwhelmed about the love his movie has received.

"It is always good to be at the receiving end of so much love from the audience because that validation is so special for you as an artist. It gives you so much encouragement and motivation to just give your best," he added.
