He released Alia Bhatt's first look from the movie as Roop and the actor looks breathtaking as a coy bride.
In fact, her look will remind you of Deepika Padukone's regal appearance as Queen Padmavati from Padmaavat.

Netizens go berserk over Roop's resemblance with Padmavati
As soon as Alia's look from Kalank was unveiled, Twitterati went crazy and were all praises for the diva's royal beauty.
Some of them also drew comparisons between Alia as Roop and Deepika as Rani Padmavati from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat.
A Twitter user wrote, "For a moment I thought it's Deepika".

'Was my father's dream to see this film come through'
Earlier, KJo got emotional about Kalank, and wrote that the movie is special to him as it was the last movie his late father Yash Johar worked on.
"A film that was born in my heart and mind 15 years ago. It was his dream to see this film come through. Today his wish has found a relationship with celluloid," Karan wrote on Instagram.

Needless to say, Alia is ecstatic to be a part of Kalank team and can't stop gushing about her character in the period drama. Talking about the same, the actress, who is known for her versatility, stated, "A character unlike any other I have played."
'Kalank' is a period drama set in the 1940s
Helmed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank is said to be a period drama set in the 1940s. The movie also stars Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead. It will hit the screens on April 19 this year.
