GoT launches a challenge to find Iron Thrones hidden worldwide
The final season of Game of Thrones is going to release soon. For the fans waiting in anticipation, HBO has launched a "For the Throne" campaign.
As a part of this campaign, fans have to find six Iron Throne replicas hidden around the world with the help of various clues provided in hour-long videos.
Here's all you need to know about the challenge.
The Quest Begins
The quest for the throne is on, fans are participating
The challenge was announced via Instagram.
Its official website states: "For seven seasons you've watched characters lie, bleed, and sacrifice for the Iron Throne. As the final season approaches, only one question remains: How far will you go?"
Five 360-degree videos that hint the thrones' locations have been released on the website. A clock ticking below states that the quest ends in four days.
The First Movers
The first throne has already been found
Within a week of the quest's launch, fans Alex Bowring and Tom Maullin-Sapey from Oxford, England managed to find the first throne by cracking the clues.
The throne was found in Puzzlewood at the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.
They were rewarded with a crown that (most probably) made other fans super jealous.
We do hope that one of the thrones is in India!
Names of Thrones
Here's what we know about the thrones
Each video shows one throne. They are named Throne of the Forest, Throne of the North, Throne of Ice, Throne of Joy, and Throne of Valyria.
Participants can watch the hour-long 360-degree videos to get an idea of the throne's location.
In the Throne of Joy video, for example, the lighting changes because of sunrise and one can get better visibility of the surroundings.
Here are the Thrones with their respective clues
Throne of the Forest: Seek the Weirwood in this Kingdom on Earth.
North: A crown for each of the three stags
Ice: We stand on guard for thee.
Joy: "A coat of gold, a coat of red. A lion still has claws. And mine are long and sharp, my Lord."
Valyria: A true Maester must see the wisdom in what's not written.
Other challenges in the campaign
Last month, HBO launched the 'Bleed for the Throne' campaign in which they partnered with the American Red Cross to drive blood donations.
They also announced a 'Create for the Throne' campaign where they gave 18 artists a chance to spruce up and re-imagine 18 iconic props from the show.
The final season of Game of Thrones premieres April 14.
