It was reported that the Gen Y stars have already begun shooting for the same.
While their fans are excited about this remake, it is reported that the first look poster of Varun-Sara starrer will be unveiled on April 24.
Interestingly, April 24 will mark Varun's 32nd birthday and it seems that the poster will be his father David Dhawan's gift for him.
Notably, the remake will be helmed by David, who had directed the original too.
"The shoot has already taken place. Varun's birthday seemed like a great occasion to show the audience what's in store for them," a source told DNA.
Earlier, there were reports that Varun would be romancing Alia Bhatt in Coolie No.1 remake.
However, Varun dismissed the reports saying he can't do every movie with Alia.
Later, Sara was roped in for the movie.
"Varun-Sara have a huge fan following. They are talented and this would be a jodi that the audience will want to see in a film," the source added.
Meanwhile, writer Farhad Samji revealed that the new movie would neither be a remake nor a sequel to the original movie.
Instead, it will be an adaptation with a new format.
"We have written it keeping the sensibilities of today's audience in mind. It will have plenty of humor and color, larger-than-life songs and will be mounted on a lavish scale," Farhad had mentioned.
Currently, Varun is gearing up for the release of Kalank opposite Alia on April 17.
The actor is said to be having a busy 2019 as after Kalank, he will be seen in Remo D'Souza's Street Dancer.
Sara, meanwhile, is working on Imtiaz Ali's Aaj Kal opposite Kartik Aaryan. The movie is a sequel to 2009 release Love Aaj Kal.
