#ComicBytes: Here are the smartest characters in DC Comics

From child prodigies to crime fighting vigilantes and alien heroes, DC Comics has its fair share of intelligent characters.

Some of them use their smarts to save the world and make it a better place while others just want to spread some good old villainy.

Read on to know some of the most intelligent beings in the DC Universe.

Overcame a horrible tragedy by reinventing herself

Overcame a horrible tragedy by reinventing herself

Not many people are smarter than Batman but at things like hacking and surveillance, Barbara Gordon is.

She used to actively fight crime as Batgirl but during The Killing Joke storyline, Joker shot and paralyzed her from the waist down.

Being Batman's protege, she reinvented herself as Oracle, the 'girl-in-the-chair' and once broke into the Pentagon.

She became Batgirl again in the New 52.

He is often called the smartest man in the world

Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias) was a child prodigy, smarter than anyone else around him. In order to hide it, he deliberately got bad grades.

He acquired a vast fortune and used it to rid the world of crime but soon retired while maintaining a positive public image.

The Watchmen character, however, had some pretty evil plans to unite the world in a twisted way.

His intelligence is often ignored in favor of his powers

His intelligence is often ignored in favor of his powers

Superman has so many powers that people generally forget about his innate ability to think intelligently.

Being a Kryptonian with nearly limitless potential, Superman's intellect is much higher than most people in the DC Universe

Just like his body, his mind also receives strength from our Sun and continues to grow without experiencing fatigue.

He has often solved criminal cases all by himself.

The undisputed knight of intellect and analytical skills

Batman excels in whatever he does. What makes him amazing is his ability to hold his ground in front of the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Martian Manhunter.

He has no superpowers (except maybe money) and still could essentially defeat the Justice League on his own. There's a movie about it as well, Justice League: Doom, and it's definitely worth a watch.
