Shahid Kapoor demands Rs. 40 crore for 'Jersey' remake?
Shahid Kapoor delivered his career's biggest hit this year with Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Kabir Singh.
And while the movie is gearing up to enter the Rs. 300cr club, Shahid is planning to cash in on this success.
According to media reports, the Padmaavat actor has hiked his price for upcoming movies, and has demanded a whopping amount of Rs. 40cr for Jersey remake.
Karan Johar to bankroll the remake of this Telugu movie
As per a Bollywood Hungama report, producer Karan Johar has bought the remake rights of the Telugu movie, which featured superstar Nani.
It's said that Karan is keen to rope in Shahid for this sports drama.
"After his intense performance in Kabir Singh, it would be really interesting to see him in another role, obviously in a completely different avatar," stated a source.
Interestingly, 'Kabir Singh' is also remake of a Telugu film
Shahid's last release, Kabir Singh has emerged as the highest grosser of the year till now, in spite of of the severe criticism it received from critics for glorifying toxic masculinity.
Interestingly, it is also Shahid's first solo hit in his career spanning 16 years.
Like Jersey, Kabir Singh was also a remake of a Telugu blockbuster named Arjun Reddy, which starred Vijay Deverakonda.
Weeks after release, Shahid broke silence on 'Kabir Singh' controversy
Addressing the controversy Kabir Singh sparked, Shahid said, "I've always believed that you should be nice in real life. You can't be setting an example as an actor."
Talking about the adulation, he said, "People who saw the film were doing everything for me. That showed that people connected with the product. Maybe it's like the way Kabir loved Preeti, people loved the film."
'Jersey' is based on an aspiring cricketer and his struggles
Jersey, the movie, revolves around an aspiring cricketer, played by Nani, and his struggles to make it big in Indian cricket. The movie, which released in April this year was a blockbuster, and also featured Shraddha Srinath and Harish Kalyan in pivotal roles.
