'Badhaai Ho' actress Surekha Sikhri is recovering from stroke
In her recent interview, the 74-year-old actress stated that she hasn't signed any project owing to her ill health.
"I had a brain stroke ten months ago while shooting in Mahableshwar and I've been recovering since then," she added.
"The doctors say that I will be alright soon"
"I fell down and hit my head in the bathroom while shooting in Mahableshwar. I have not been able to work due to my illness. The doctors say that I will be alright soon," Surekha was quoted saying to Hindustan Times.

Furthermore, Surekha admitted being overwhelmed with her win at the 66th National Awards
"I am humbled that some people considered me deserving enough to give me an award. I'm quite thrilled," she added.
However, the veteran actress also felt that Badhaai Ho should have also won the Best Screenplay Award given its stupendous storyline.
"Script is the king and today content rules," Surekha emphasized.

Surekha Sikri wins the National Award for the third time
Interestingly, this isn't Surekha's first national award in the best supporting actress category.
The Balika Vadhu actress had earlier won the prestigious award for her performance in Tamas in 1988 and Mammo in 1995.
For her contributions towards Hindi theatre, she has won the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1989, moreover, she has won several other accolades for her stupendous performances on the big screen.

Recalling her first win at the National Award, Surekha stated that it was a big deal back then.
"Winning such prestigious awards changes the way people think of you. More people want to work with you," she added.
However, Surekha also emphasized that each award brings she has won is important for her "as they speak of people's appreciation for one's work," she stated.
