After a brilliant first innings in cricket, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to start a new (albeit small) chapter in his professional life.
According to media reports, Dhoni is planning to venture into film production.
In fact, he has zeroed in some projects to bankroll and is also in talks with several production houses for collaboration.
Reportedly, the entertainment industry has always intrigued our captain cool, who himself is a huge movie buff.
However, it was during the making of his biopic M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story, that Dhoni "got a chance to observe the entertainment industry up close".
"And he loved it. He was waiting for an opportune time to take the plunge," a source stated.
Given the buzz surrounding Dhoni's retirement from cricket, the reports about the ace cricketer's production venture may have some weight, after all. Further, the media reports also suggest that Dhoni's maiden production might have his dear friend John Abraham in the lead.
To recall, Dhoni's company Dhoni Entertainment got into a partnership with Banijay Asia production house early this year.
The idea was to bring "never-seen-before content" for the audience
"After my biopic, I always wanted to do something in the entertainment space. It always captivated me as there are a lot of fresh concepts I would like to bring to the table," Dhoni told ET.
Talking about the partnership, Dhoni stated that he's looking forward to "bring something which is more than exciting and stimulating".
"I decided to partner with Banijay Asia for the quality of content they have created so far," he added.
According to Deepak Dhar, founder of Banijay Asia, they will be making investments to create premium content for multiple platforms in India and Southeast Asia.
