Days after a massive fire broke on the sets of Varun Dhawan's Coolie No. 1, it's now reported that the producers have suffered a big loss in the mishap.
According to media reports, while no casualties were reported, a major portion of the sets and some equipment were destroyed due to the fire.
Consequently, the producers have suffered a loss of around Rs. 2.5cr.
According to a report published in Pune Mirror, the fire broke on Coolie No. 1 sets in Mumbai's Filmistan Studio last week.
The workers on the sets had informed the fire brigade, who took over three hours to douse the inferno completely.
The report further suggested that some light equipment, part of the set and building material were destroyed in the incident.
"The major loss is that of the third party that supplied the material that was destroyed in the fire. The producers have estimated the loss at about Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 2.5 crore," a source was quoted as saying to Pune Mirror.
Needless to say, it was a big jolt to the producers.
However, this loss has fortunately been covered under the insurance of Rs. 125 crore, the report said.
In fact, a surveyor from the insurance company had also visited the sets recently to check on the damages.
"He will file his report soon and only then will the claim process begin," the source added.
Talking about the movie, this Varun-starrer is said to be the remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor's Coolie No. 1, which released in 1995.
Interestingly, Sara Ali Khan will be stepping into Karisma's shoes for the movie.
If media reports are to be believed, the movie will also have a new version of Govinda's popular song from the movie, Husn Hai Suhana.
Notably, just like the original movie, the modern version will also be helmed by David Dhawan.
However, the dialogs will be penned by Farhad Samji.
Detailing about the story, Farhad stated, "We have written it keeping the sensibilities of today's audience in mind. It will have plenty of humor and color, larger-than-life songs and will be mounted on a lavish scale."
