Sanjay Dutt confirms 'Munnabhai 3' is happening, in scripting stage
It's been quite some time that reports about the much-awaited third installment of Sanjay Dutt's Munnabhai franchise have been doing the rounds in media.
Putting rest to all speculations surrounding the movie, Dutt has finally confirmed that Munnabhai 3 is happening.
He stated that the movie is currently in the scripting stage, and is being written by filmmaker Rajkummar Hirani.
'Munnabhai 3' to hit the floors next year
Spilling beans about the movie, Dutt revealed that the script will be finalized soon, and it will begin rolling by the end of next year.
To note, the Munnabhai franchise started in 2003, followed by a sequel in 2006.
And while the third installment is coming after 14 years, producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra said that he was waiting for a "proper script" so far.
Earlier, Arshad Warsi had spoken about 'Munnabhai 3'
During an interview, he stated that the movie is likely to hit the floors soon.
"I do know from Raju that the script is pretty much ready. As of now, yes it is Sanju and me. These are the things I've been told," he added.
Victim had sent an email against Hirani to VVC Films
Notably, sexual harassment allegations against Hirani came to light after the victim sent an email addressing Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Abhijat Joshi, and Shelly Chopra Dhar.
"I remember forming these words on my lips - 'Sir. This is wrong. My mind, body and heart were grossly violated for 6 months," she wrote.
The victim alleged that Hirani assaulted her in his home office.
Is the #MeToo wave done and dusted in Bollywood?
Notably, this isn't the first incident where a #MeToo accused is getting support from Bollywood.
Earlier, the ever forgiving and forgetful Bollywood took Vikas Bahl, Anu Malik and Subhash Kapoor back in its fold.
Looks like the #MeToo wave is done and dusted in this industry.
Film was put on hold after Hirani's sexual harassment allegations
To jog your memory, Munnabhai 3, which has been in the news for several years now, went on the back burner after Hirani was accused of sexual harassment during the #MeToo wave last year. Hirani was accused of molesting an assistant director of Sanju.
